Summary of Job:
The estimator is responsible for preparing cost, time estimates, and lead times for repair and new manufacturing services to meet customer's expectations and needs by communicating with Pioneer's sales department about the following:
Customers' needs and expectations.
All information that is required for quoting or manufacturing.
Delivering the appropriate information (TVC, labor hours, Lead times, etc.
) to our sales department for them to generate a quote.
Reviewing all available drawings, process specifications, and material specifications.
Ability to identify missing information needed for estimates and effectively communicate that to the appropriate personnel.
Communicate with Pioneer's QA, Engineering, and Production departments to better understand Pioneer's capabilities to call out the appropriate exceptions to customers' drawings and specifications that are outside of Pioneer's current abilities.
Communicate with vendors about job requirements to obtain valid quotes.
Create and maintain estimate quote sheets in Google Drive.
Create and modify estimate timesheets with set-up times and machining formulas to current Pioneer's processes to obtain a reasonable manufacturing time Researching Pioneer's previous performance of past jobs or similar parts by evaluating our job history in our ERP/CRM software.
This position is cross-trained to provide backup for procurement when the procurement agent is absent.
Regular work shift will be 8:
00 am -5:
00 pm, Monday thru Friday, at the Kings Mountain plant.
Qualities Desired:
A self-motivated individual:
The estimator must be able to identify estimate priorities and produce quotes on time with very little oversight.
Organizational Abilities:
The estimator must be personally well organized in terms of using his or her time and be able to prepare accurate estimates to meet quotation deadlines.
He or she must have excellent conceptual, administrative, and leadership skills.
Effective Human Interaction:
The estimator must establish a good working relationship with a broad spectrum of people within the administrative and manufacturing environment.
The ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, GD&T, Process specification, Material specification, and work procedures.
Must be able to read and interpret bill of materials (BOM) A working knowledge of CAD software for preparing sketches and drawings for quotation purposes.
Machine Tool Understanding:
The estimator must possess a practical understanding of machining practices, formulas, and machine tool capabilities, especially regarding maintaining appropriate tolerances, using manual and CNC tools, and incorporating efficient practices.
Technical experience will be reflected either by the degree held or to be received or by the candidate's work experience.
Technical Understanding:
The estimator must possess a basic technical understanding of the principles and details of fluid film bearings, rotating equipment, and methods for manufacturing and repairing bearings.
Working knowledge of spreadsheets, Google sheets, formulas, ERP/CRM software Salesforce.
Proficient in Gmail, word documents, spreadsheets (including basic functions/formulas), using and creating virtual meetings, and modern digital calendars (including shared calendars).
Physical abilities:
The estimator must move around physically with ease on the floor of the plant or yard, including climbing stairs into inventory and drawing storage areas, which would involve navigating around obstructions in tight quarters.
Job Functions:
Provide Sales with estimated hours, material cost, and lead times for new bearings, repaired bearings, or services.
Quotes will involve the following but are not limited to:
Examine all BOMs, drawings, and specifications to ensure all materials, and parts, are specified.
Research and pull missing drawings, including all sub-drawings, from our filing system.
Review and evaluate previous jobs history with the production department to better Identify areas of concern and improvement and revise/update quotes as necessary.
Obtaining Valid quotes from vendors for pricing and delivery of raw materials to customer's specifications Communicating with other manufacturers to obtain outside services or miscellaneous parts needed for the job that Pioneer can not produce or provide.
Provide estimated hours by preparing a timesheet by either:
Provide ballpark quotations when limited information is available, or the customer needs a critical quote on a short turnaround time.
Assist the sales department, in answering customer inquiries, about the status of quotations, material substitutions, etc.
(Normally, if exceptions are taken, they are documented on the quote form, material exceptions, times based on the previous job runs, etc.
).
Inform the Sales Department of any possible concerns with the job's complexity so they can adjust the labor rate accordingly.

Salary info:
$25 - $35 / hr.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
